Hermès reopens store in Beijing’s SKP Shopping Centre – Hermès

Located in the SKP shopping centre in Beijing’s Central Business District, the relocated store showcases a contemporary interpretation of Hermès’ sixteen métiers within a space inspired by traditional Shan Shui paintings and the region’s mountainous scenery.

The store façade is made with textural stone, symbolizing the gradual erosion of mountains by cascading waterfalls. The entrances feature characteristic Grecques lights, the iconic Faubourg mosaic, and offer a sweeping view of the central staircase, which is encased in oak and flows like a river.

Inside, the first floor features the women’s silk universe, including perfume and beauty on one side and a jewellery collection on the other. Further along, the store features sections dedicated to fashion jewellery, the women’s universe, and leather and equestrian goods.

Meanwhile, the upper level houses the men’s universe, showcasing ready-to-wear, silk, leather, shoes, and homeware collections. Both floors are equipped with fitting rooms and a private salon for an exclusive shopping experience.

The interior design merges interpretations of landscapes and traditional Chinese art with clean lines, tactile materials, and a natural palette of ochre, sand, and watery blues. Completing the decor is a curated collection of artworks from the Émile Hermès collection, including historic equestrian oil paintings by German artist Johann Elias Ridinger and “Riverbank, Qutang Gorge, Yangtsé Valley, China,” a contemporary print by French landscape photographer Maxence Rifflet.

Hermes operates 34 stores in the country, each paying tribute to the Chinese culture.
