The housing charity Homeless Scotland said several homeless people from Edinburgh had been sent by taxi to the Scottish cities Aberdeen and Glasgow amid the shortage in housing, the BBC reports.
One homeless person was offered temporary accommodation 160 kilometres away in the northern English city of Newcastle.
Homeless Scotland said the move was “a blatant injustice” for people without a permanent home to be “in direct competition” with tourists.
American singer Swift will be playing three nights at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield stadium, from June 7 to June 9.
The city is expected to be flooded by hundreds of thousands of fans and hotel rooms and other accommodation is in short supply.
Edinburgh City Council said it was working with impacted homeless people to find “appropriate, alternative accommodation”.
Homeless Scotland said instead of people classified as homeless in Edinburgh being offered temporary accommodation there, they were being sent outside the city.
But there is no evidence of homeless people being asked to leave accommodation where they are currently staying.
There is a legal obligation in Scotland for homeless people to be offered accommodation, and this can include hotels.
Edinburgh City Council last year declared a housing emergency, which it said was due to record homelessness figures, a major shortage of social rented homes and soaring private rental costs.
